I’m Sunk

From Andrew Sullivan’s piece for The Atlantic, Why I Blog,

And, as Matt Drudge told me when I sought advice from the master in 2001, the key to understanding a blog is to realize that it’s a broadcast, not a publication. If it stops moving, it dies. If it stops paddling, it sinks.

I’ve actually been wondering if I should give up on blogging. I get tired of the crazies harassing me on a regular basis and the myriad of problems that arise from hosting my own blogs are neither trivial nor cheap.

Just yesterday I received a letter from my hosting company, Siteground, telling me I overuse CPU server resources. They want me to upgrade to a virtual private server (VPS) that would cost between $150 to $250 a month. Blogging just isn’t worth that to me. So, it remains to be seen whether Cottontimer.com and EyeOnDNA.com will remain standing. Probably yes but if I go offline for a little while, it’ll be because I’m dealing with related hassles.

NB: Thank goodness I have knowledgeable friends like Christina who guide me through server messes.
